6. Course Access

Access to courses depends on the product purchased and may include:

• 5-year access
• annual access
• monthly subscription access
• limited trial access
• school or group licenses

Specific access terms are described below.

7. Product-Specific Terms

Self-Study Online Courses

Self-Study courses provide independent access to course materials.

These courses may include:

• video lessons
• quizzes
• practice activities
• downloadable resources

Self-Study courses do not include instructor grading or individualized feedback unless otherwise stated.

5-Year Access (Self-Study)

The Self-Study 5-Year Access option provides access to the purchased course(s) for five (5) years from the date of purchase. Access will automatically expire at the end of this period unless renewed or repurchased.

Access is granted to a single user and may not be shared or transferred. Course content and platform features may be updated or changed during the access period. Continued access beyond the 5-year term is not guaranteed.

Our payment plan option (if available) starts with one low upfront payment and spreads the rest over time. You’ll receive full access as soon as you enroll. If a payment is missed or the plan is canceled, access to the course(s) will be removed.

Guided Online Courses

Guided courses include additional instructional support.

These features may include:

• instructor feedback on assignments
• manual grading
• live practice sessions
• additional assignments
• completion verification

Instructor feedback is provided within reasonable timeframes but is not guaranteed to be immediate.

We may limit the number of assignments eligible for instructor review.

Free Trial Courses

We may offer free trial access to selected course materials.

Trial access:

• may provide limited course content

The following terms apply to all downloadable products unless otherwise specified on the product page.

Digital Delivery

Downloadable products are delivered electronically.

After completing your purchase, you will receive access to download the purchased files.

Because downloadable products are delivered immediately, customers are responsible for ensuring they have the ability to download and store the files after purchase.

Personal Use License

Unless otherwise specified, downloadable products are sold under a personal use license.

This means the purchaser may:

• download the files for personal educational use
• print copies for their own use
• store the files on their personal devices

The purchaser may not:

• share the files with others
• distribute copies of the files
• upload the files to websites or file-sharing services

Teacher and Classroom Use

Some downloadable products may be purchased with a teacher or classroom license.

If a teacher license is included, the purchaser may:

• print copies for students within their own classroom
• use the materials for instruction with their own students

Teacher licenses do not allow distribution to other teachers, schools, or institutions unless additional licenses are purchased.

Teacher’s Curriculum & Classroom Use

Use of the Start ASL Teacher Curriculum requires an active annual subscription for each teacher using the materials. Subscriptions are licensed per teacher and may not be shared, transferred, or used by multiple instructors, even within the same school or organization.

Teachers may use the curriculum within their own classroom and provide students with access through the official Start ASL Student Access Details included with the subscription. However, curriculum materials may not be uploaded, posted online, or distributed in any form outside of permitted classroom use.

The “Don’t Just Sign… Communicate!” books can only be distributed to the number of students included in a classroom license. Otherwise, students must purchase their own copies here: http://books.startasl.com

Violation of these terms may result in suspension of access or additional licensing requirements.

School and Institutional Use

Schools, districts, and organizations wishing to use downloadable materials across multiple classrooms or instructors must purchase the appropriate number of licenses.

Institutional purchases may require separate licensing agreements.

Materials may not be shared across multiple instructors or classrooms without proper licensing.

Copyright Protection

All downloadable products are protected by copyright.

You may not:

• reproduce the materials for resale
• upload materials to public websites
• distribute materials through file sharing platforms
• modify and redistribute the materials

Unauthorized distribution of downloadable materials may result in legal action.

No Resale or Redistribution

Downloadable products may not be resold, redistributed, or used as part of another commercial product or service without prior written permission from Start ASL.

File Access and Storage

Customers are responsible for downloading and storing purchased files.

While we may allow access to downloads for a limited time, we do not guarantee permanent file hosting.

We recommend saving your files in a secure location after purchase.

Updates to Downloadable Products

In some cases, updated versions of downloadable materials may be released.

Customers who previously purchased the product may or may not receive updated versions depending on the product terms.

The Start ASL Tutoring Program

After you have scheduled your session, you will receive an email confirming your appointment.

Refunds are subject to the discretion of your Tutor. You can reschedule your tutoring session up to 24 hours in advance by contacting the tutor’s email address provided in your order receipt. Your Tutor’s time is valuable, and so is yours. If you’re late for your appointment, you lose that time. If you don’t show, you will still be charged in full. In turn, your Tutor will honor your appointments and be on time as well.

Disclaimer: ASL Tutors listed on this page are considered third party entities and are not employees or contractors of Start ASL. Scheduling and payments are handled directly with each Tutor. Start ASL has no control over, and are not responsible for, your interactions (online or in person) with any third parties even if introduced via this site. You also acknowledge that chargebacks or payment disputes should not be initiated without first contacting Start ASL to request assistance or a refund according to the stated refund policy.

9. Course Completion and Certificates

Acceptance of course completion for academic credit is determined by the receiving school or institution.
