Hello everyone! We’re really excited to let you know that the 10 year anniversary of the Bay Area International Deaf Dance festival is coming up right around the corner! We are really looking forward to it! The last three years we haven’t been able to gather in person so we are thrilled to finally be able to come back together as a community. The festival will be happening Friday, August 12- Sunday August 14th. Performances on Friday and Saturday will start at 7pm while Sunday’s performance will be at 3. We will be at Dance Mission Theater at the intersection of 24th and Mission. It’s right across from the 24th and Mission BART stop.
The festival tickets are available online now! Tickets cost $25 dollars online! If you’re under the age of 16, tickets are $12 dollars. If you haven’t bought your tickets online and still want to come, you can buy them at the door for $35 dollars. Bring cash! The ticket link for online purchase is in the transcript. https://bpt.me/5493210
Also we have other exciting events throughout the weekend. We have two workshops and panel sessions. Friday August 12th we have a workshop for adults at 10am located at Counterpulse theater on 80 Turk street (the address is also in the transcript: 80 Turk St, San Francisco, CA 94102). It’s right down the street from the Powell BART stop. Be sure to take this class and learn from Sunshine 2.0. The second workshop is geared toward the youth. It will be held for one hour at 12pm on Sunday August 14th. It will be taught by Bianca Ware at the Dance Mission theater. Come and enjoy the class with kids for just an hour, then you can have a relaxing lunch break before watching the 3pm show. We are looking forward to that. We also have a panel on Saturday August 13th at 11 am. It will be at YBCA (Yerba Buena Center for the Arts). YBCA is also on Mission street near the Powell BART stop.
In terms of accessibility, we of course will have ASL interpreters the whole time. The panels will have International Sign language interpreters, Spanish voice interpreters, and captions inclusive for all. Events will also be streamed to Facebook so if you can’t make it in person, you will be able to catch it online. One of the performances will also be open captioned. We will announce soon which one.
We are continuing covid policies this year. We value our community so highly and want to prioritize your safety. It’s important to wear your mask at all times including during the performances. Friday’s workshop at CounterPulse also requires either a negative COVID test 48 hours prior or to be fully vaccinated.
I believe that’s it! We covered everything. We’re really excited to see you all there. We look forward to being back together again to celebrate Deaf art! Peace and love.
